Natural Remedies for Headache Relief
Headaches are the number one cause of pain in the world. They can be very mild and disappear within a short space of time, or they can be excruciatingly painful and last for hours. Natural remedies for headaches have been known to alleviate the pain. There are numerous remedies that can be very effective in relieving the pain of a headache.
A pleasant way of relieving a headache is by using aromatherapy. You can use diluted lavender essential oil. Put 1 drop of the oil mixed into half a teaspoon of jojoba oil. You can’t apply aromatic oils directly onto your skin as it causes burns.The jojoba oil serves to dilute the essential oil for direct application. You can use this to apply on your temples and rub along your hairline. Use just a tiny drop as this essential oil mixture is powerful enough to work quickly and effectively too.
Massage combined drops of peppermint oil and wintergreen oil into the temples and nape of the neck to relieve tension. Massage sinus region of the face to relieve sinus headaches. Keep salve away from the eyes.
Stirring 1 to 2 teaspoons of lavender leaves in a cup of boiling water, and then cooling the mixture. Drink it three times daily.
One easy method to try is to apply a cool compress on the forehead. This helps to keep the blood flowing by opening constricted blood vessels. Hold a cold pack on your head or forehead for several minutes at a time. This is most effective if applied immediately at the onset of a headache.
Pouring hot water (as hot as possible) into a bowl, dipping your hands into the bowl, and then taking them out. Repeat 10 times.
To get rid of headache take a few drops of ghee (clarified butter) on your palm. Mix 3 or 4 pieces of saffron in it, and rub it for two minutes. The saffron does not dissolve in the ghee, but its qualities are absorbed. Remove saffron and put two drops of this ghee in each nostril. Dosage: Follow procedure two times in a day.
The herb rosemary has been found valuable in headaches resulting from cold. A handful of this herb should be boiled in a liter of water and put in a mug. The head should be covered with a towel and the steam inhaled for as long as the patient can bear. This should be repeated till the headache is relieved.
Feverfew – Feverfew contains substances that inhibit the release of mood hormones in the brain. For best results, use fresh feverfew. When this isn’t available, consume as tea or in capsule form.
