The cause of female hair loss is different for every woman and sometimes it is possible to stop hair loss by, for example, not using a specific hair treatment product or method anymore. Other causes for female hair loss are:
Poor nutrition. A lack of essential vitamins and minerals in your diet might cause hair loss.
Certain types of medication can cause hair loss. If you are using medication and you are experiencing hair loss, contact your doctor.
There are many female hair loss causes. There are several other factors too that can lead to female hair loss. Pregnancy for instance is one of the reasons why women can lose hair. Then there is the case of either an overactive or under active thyroid which can cause hair loss. Similarly there are a few medications which could cause hair loss as a side-effect. There are also cases when women who are using birth control pills are known to shed their hair. Inadequate protein or iron deficiency in the diet is also known to cause hair loss in women. Hair loss in women can be caused due to many such causes.
After pregnancy many women experience a loss of hair, this is caused many hair simultaneously entering the resting (telogen) phase. Within two to three months after giving birth, some women will notice large amounts of hair coming out in their brushes and combs. This can last one to six months, but resolves completely in most cases. This condition is caused by the hormonal changes that take place after a woman’s body recovers from her pregnancy.
Since most women spend a lot of time styling their hair, this over-handling can be a common cause for hair loss. Colouring, bleaching and perming your hair can cause damage to the hair follicles and cause hair loss. So can aggressive brushing, shampooing and the wearing of tight hairstyles like braids or ponytails.
Stress and some illnesses such as anemia and infections, can also lead to hair loss. Stress can lead to an increase in hormones circulating through the blood stream and can also cause problems with the body systems responsible for hair growth. Infection can disrupt the normal operations of the body’s system and cause problems with normal hair growth and patterns.
