Diaper Rashes, Treatment of Skin Rashes in Babies
Rashes occurrence on skin is very common in young babies. The skin of new born bay is very sensitive. It is prone to all type of skin problems. Most of the problems are harmless and generally removed according to time.
Some of the common rashes of babies are mentioned below.
Diaper rash- This is the most common problem that generally occurs in kids. This is also called diaper dermatitis. This is a bright red rash, which is caused by irritation from prolonged skin contact with urine or stool anywhere beneath a child’s diaper.
Affected areas- The areas which are touched by the diaper are generally considered areas of having diaper rash. Diaper rash can also be caused by infection with the fungus Candida and this infection cause a bright red rash in the creases of the skin and small red spots. Diaper rashes can also be caused by bacteria but this condition is very less often.
Prevention of Diaper Rash -Diaper rash does not always bother the child. It can be prevented or minimized by using diapers that are made with an absorbent gel as these types of diapers can absorb the urine and thus saves child from infection. The problem can also be avoided by restricting plastic diapers or pants that trap moisture and by frequently changing diapers when they are soiled. Breastfed babies tend to have fewer diaper rashes because their stools contain fewer enzymes and other substances that can irritate the skin.
Treatment of Diaper Rash - the main and important thing you can do to prevent diaper rash is change the diapers frequently or wash the areas with a mild soap or water after pass of urine and stool. Sometimes the rashes clears the moisture from the skin and if you gat a rash on the skin you can apply a moisturizer or an ointment to the affected area.
The ointments that contain zinc, vitamin A, vitamin C or petroleum jelly can prove helpful in case of having diaper rash. If you find Candida infection, a kind of skin disease you must consult the doctor or use an antifungal cream after doctor’s prescription as this can provide relief to the child. You can use an antibiotic cream if your kid is having a skin rash by the bacteria.
